Happy National Book Lover's Day!
Happy National Book Lover’s Day to all my fellow book lovers!
In honor of this fun & unique holiday, I wanted to share a few ways you could take some time to celebrate! I broke them down into three categories - free, affordable, and spendy.
Free
Read - If you are a book lover, this is probably something you already do most days, but you could always switch up the location for something different! Read outside at a park, in a cozy chair at home with your favorite blanket, or maybe listen to an audiobook on a walk!
Message your favorite author or book influencer and tell them something you love about their books or content - Words hold so much power so let’s use them to spread some positivity!
Go to the library - I love going to the library to browse or read. It’s such a cozy place, not to mention free!
Start a book club, host a book swap, or read with friends - If you have been wanting to start some kind of social reading group, let National Book Lover’s Day be the day you start!
Make an account on NoSpiceBooks.com, make lists, and track your reading - In case you missed it in this video and newsletter, NoSpiceBooks.com now has accounts! You can create a free account, save books to custom lists, get personalized stats, and more!
Affordable
Go to the bookstore and pick out one new read - Going to the bookstore is always a fun outing, especially if you know you actually get to go home with a book!
Buy a book for someone else - This could also be a great day to buy a book for someone you know who wants to get into reading or a new release you know a friend has been anticipating!
Treat yourself to a bookmark, Kindle case, or other fun bookish accessory - If your TBR is full, maybe pick up a fun accessory for reading instead of a new book.
Go to a coffee shop to read and sip on a fun drink - This is one of my favorite things to do! Something about getting out of the house really helps me relax and focus only on reading!
Start a reading journal - This doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Grab a journal you already have and write some reviews of recent books you have read or lists of favorites. I love doing this digitally on my iPad too!
Spendy
Purchase a Kindle or Kobo - They are pricey, but my Kindle is one of my most favorite items I own. I use it every day! If you are wondering which Kindle might be best for you, check out this video!
Curate a reading space in your home - Find a cozy corner or maybe even an entire room that you want to dedicate to reading and other cozy hobbies. Get a comfy chair, a bookshelf, anything else that goes in the space. Make it your dream reading space!
Go on a reading retreat - Take some time to getaway and just read. Maybe you go alone or grab some friends to take with you!
Get Kindle Unlimited - Kindle Unlimited is $11.99 a month plus taxes, and I have found it to be worth it! You can always try it out for a month or two, cancel, and come back later if you miss it.
Buy a bunch of books - Maybe you have a whole list of books you have been wanting to buy, or you want to spend the whole day on a bookstore crawl picking up whatever catches your eye. Go for it!!!
I hope this list gave you some fun ideas for how to spend National Book Lover’s Day!
My plan is to take some time to read outside, add some of my recent reads on NoSpiceBooks.com, and maybe even go to a coffee shop if I am feeling fancy! Trying out the Kobo Libra Colour is something I am putting on my list for next year.
What about you? Leave me a comment, send me a message, or respond to this email, and let me know how you are celebrating National Book Lover’s Day!
Thank you for reading No Spice Books!
More to come, friends!
