Description
Lucy Alling sells rare books in a high-end Chicago shop, matching old treasures with new owners. The problem is, her methods for getting those books aren’t exactly honest, and when her boyfriend James discovers what she’s been doing, their relationship crashes. Then James’s wealthy grandmother Helen hires Lucy to accompany her on a literary and antiques trip across England, and Lucy finds herself walking the streets of London and eventually Haworth, home of the Brontë sisters.
Told from Lucy’s perspective, the story leans into her love of classic novels, her complicated family past, and the slow work of owning up to mistakes. It’s contemporary, character-focused, and clean, with romance as one thread rather than the whole plot. Readers who enjoy bookish details, English settings, and themes of forgiveness and second chances will likely find this a gentle, thoughtful read.
